The Horn Nosed Painted Dragon

The Horn Nosed Painted Dragon

I have to admit this is my first Oil painting at least since I was a kid.  For years I relied on my colored pencils to achieve the colors I wanted in my illustrations, but always admired the beautiful paintings of some of my favorite

The Race

Liquid gold sunlight poured through towering clouds, while warm thermals lifted

lazily through the atmosphere.  Ian and Casey turned their winged friends toward home.  Powerful wingbeats drummed out

a soothing rhythm, propelling them easily through the late afternoon sky.

Excitement still lingered from a day spent at the annual Airship Festival.  With an unspoken word, the boys looked at each other and grinned.

A deep but gentle voice that felt ancient like the stone in the mountains, only she could hear, spoke and introduced himself. “I am Segwyn”.  The happiness emanating from his thoughts washed through her mind like a tidal wave, and she replied more confidently this time.  “My name is Cassie, it is very nice to meet you Segwyn.” His mind felt like an old friend, someone she had known all her life, but she knew they were meeting for the first time.  How wonderful this day turned out to be she thought to herself.  She heard a quiet chuckle next to her, clearly he was agreeing with her.
